Going Green

Our program is for all levels of interests and abilities. Everyone shines comfortably in their own way. This is a healthy, non-competitive environment.

We have found that our campers just want to be regular kids, no matter their ability. No intense pressure, just a regular kid improving in what they are familiar with, trying new activities as well as enjoying fun special events while developing respectful friendships.

We offer a lot of competition, but we are not competitive. There is a big difference! If one wants to be on a team, they are… they just have to attend practice. We offer teams in all sports and at different levels of competition (intra, inter and elimination). We want kids to have fun, have the opportunity to play and just try their best. By virtue of this attitude, our campers enjoy being on a team if they want to and they feel good!

We offer instruction and skill development for all activities; land, water, adventure and even chess!

If we had a typical day (that’s the beauty of being at Camp Towanda, everyday is different and exciting, we don’t get bored here!), it would be something like this…

Our program is structured. A typical day has six activity periods.
Lower Camp (entering grades 1- 6) has 4 scheduled activities, 1 option period and general swim.
Upper Camp (entering grades 7+) has 4 scheduled activities and 2 option periods.

Option periods are when campers can individually pick and choose a particular activity to focus on or if they want to try something completely different (such as: rocketry,  radio station, fishing, etc.)

Our activity periods combine instruction, skill development and the opportunity to utilize those skills in a game. Therefore, a typical 50 minute period might be broken into 25 minutes of instruction with the balance being a game.
