As parents and camp owners we are involved with each camper and the entire program. Our reputation is best described as “ultra hands on”. We make all decisions based on what we would do for our own children.
We understand what a big decision choosing a camp is and we would be delighted to speak with you personally.
Sincerely,
 |

Our camp would not be what it is without our caring, devoted, dependable and loyal staff.
It starts at the top and trickles down to everyone else. We have a lot of Senior Adult Staff, they make up the supervisory level that manages and oversees the college aged bunk staff, those living with your children. The important attribute is that these leaders effectively connect and build trust with their campers and staff.
Below is a brief look at some of our Key Staff members, not everyone is listed, as this list can go on for quite a bit, as we have many terrific staff members that we are very proud of.
Boys’ Head Counselor
Over 40 years at Camp Towanda, started as a young camper, met his wife here, his sons are counselors and his mother-in-law was the former girls’ head counselor! Everyone looks up to Bob for leadership. Tradition runs through his blood! In the off season he is a teacher in the New York City school system. |
Girls' Head Counselor
Amy is part of a 4th generation Towanda family spanning over 40 years. Amy started off as one of the youngest campers and has gone through all the ranks.
Amy knows Towanda. Amy knows Girls' Camp. Amy knows a lot about spirit, leadership and empowerment, too! And all the girls know her! She is highly respected by the campers and the staff, while her enthusiasm and zest are contagious.
During the off-season, she is a teacher in Florida where she lives with her husband and 2 daughters, who also attend Towanda.

|
Assistant Head Counselors
Fun, connected and loved. Lisa and Michael met at Towanda and are raising their 3 kids at camp; combined, they have over 31 Towanda years of leadership and friendship experience! Lisa is a middle school Assistant Principal. Michael is a high school athletic trainer and EMT.
So the Head Counselor Team looks like this: Uncle Bob Miller & Husband Michael Pelton on Boys' Camp and Niece Amy Miller and Wife Lisa Pelton on Girls' Camp.

Program Director
The who, what, where and when at camp happens because of Spiz’s attention to detail. The daily program is based upon her creative managerial skills that balance variety, interests and feedback. The result is a great and exciting program. All that and the fact she is a 2nd generation former camper and a great camp counselor here at Towanda just makes it all more exciting and awesome!

|
Tennis Director
Passion, stamina and professionalism are a few of the ingredients our staff brings to our program. Robert supervises his tennis specialists and is “right there” with the campers helping develop and improve their individual skills. Dedicated to camp for over ten years, it is staff like Robert that makes the difference.

|
Waterfront Director
An organized manager, a qualified instructor, a safety guru and on top of his game all around. "Waterfront Kyle" is the dictionary definition of who we would want running our waterfront program. The kids love him, the staff respects him. Kyle is typical of the makeup of our staff, those taking care of your children. |
Tour Coordinator
With the insight of a concerned parent and the experience of being on our Senior Staff, Jane’s spirit, spunk, knowledge of camp, humor and stamina makes her a great New Parent Liaison. Kids, staff and parents love her. Those that plan to visit our camp in action will speak with “Tour Jane”, who will help with directions, lodging and all the coordination. You don’t have to worry about anything! She adds comforting Camp Towanda perspective and wisdom.

|
Special Events Director
What would camp be without Evening Activities and Special Events, “Miller” is the best producer and it often feels as if we are living on a cruise ship with all the excitement and laughter. A third generation Towanda-er who has grown through all the ranks and is now giving back to his summer home while in law school.

|
Athletic Director
Mike coordinates inter and intra camp sports for everyone. If you want to be on a team, then "Tampa Mike" makes it happen. Our athletic program is about participating and developing skills while having fun and being part of a team

|
Outdoor Adventure Director
Ryan is a leader who raises the bar of expectations. His team builds the confidence to take on challenges with a healthy energy. His positive impact is felt throughout camp by each camper and counselor, resulting in excitement, adventure, trust, self-confidence and safety awareness.

|
Group Leader
Born and raised at Camp Towanda, Jared is typical of our college-aged staff we grow and attract. His enthusiastic and contagious love of camp, spirit and tradition make for a role model Group Leader and counselor. Jared and his friends make a difference in the lives of their campers.

|
Group Leader
Randy sets the tone for "hands on" care and coverage of our kids, 24 hours a day. She is the ultimate example of supervision and "inspecting not expecting" of her bunk counselors. Campers, counselors and parents love her! Randy is an experienced camp mom as well. Her son and daughter, niece and nephew attend Towanda.

|

Operations Director
“Z” is the man who takes care of overseeing our staff recruitment team, traveling the country and the globe to face to face interview our staff. He is an experienced camp professional with over 30 years of handling every possible position (truly from bottle washer to chef). In regards to logistics, we have no problems at camp, we have “Z”.

|
Office Manager
Year round Dusty takes care of the phone, mail and supervises our office staff. Her attention to detail exemplifies the personal attention that is evident throughout our program. Dusty is a former school teacher and a very experienced camper and counselor.

|
Camp Doctor
Dr J. is representative of our weekly doctors at camp. Dr. J is sensitive, caring and involved with our nurses, EMT, parents and our entire camp family. His wife, Meredith, grew up at Towanda and is one of our camp moms. Their son and daughter also attend Towanda.

|
Health Center Manager
Nurse Tami's energy, experience and enthusiasm cures all at Camp Towanda. She coordinates our Nurses, EMT and Doctors, along with the management of our modern Health Center. Nurse Tami brings along her husband, son and daughter to Towanda.
 |
Camp Mom
As a terrific mom herself, she tucks our campers in, she gives them an extra hug, she’ll read them a bedtime story and she’ll let the parents know the score!

|
Camp Mom
Aunt Jo’s special place is The Infirmary, making sure any patients have all the right comforts and attention. Her love, patience and care is the hallmark of The Infirmary… be it through a story or a cup of soup! In the off-season, Aunt Jo is a patient representative at Sloan-Kettering.

|
Media Director
Ask anyone at camp, Friday Nite Flix, is our extremely popular and entertaining weekly TV Show Revue. Erica and her media team produce FNF, as well as our yearbook video, weekly newsletter, (The Towanda Times) radio station (WCTR-1600 AM) and manage the website (This is it!).
